Reducing Exclusions in Schools

Reducing Exclusions in schools: Learn how to deliver successful intervention sessions for your students

2 day training course and train the trainer course - Reducing Exclusions in School

The focus of this course is to skill up you and your team in delivering high quality interventions for pupils at risk of exclusion. The training is based on evidence collected through a Changing Behaviour UK LTD project which involved running interventions in different schools for a one year period. If you are interested in looking at an overview of the project please email: training@changing-behaviour.co.uk

The intervention delivery skills taught to you are: core literacy skills (reading, punctuation, spelling and grammar), developing meaningful relationships, becoming a trusted adult, auditing behaviour and literacy, developing individualised development plans for students, check ins and check outs, communication with home and other practitioners in schools.

The over all outcome of the training is you and your team will leave with the tools to run an evidenced informed intervention and train that will reduce behaviour incidences and improve behaviour.

Who is it for?

It is for any practitioner (SLT, Teachers HLTA, TA's) that want to develop their skills in delivering high quality behaviour and literacy based interventions with children and young people.

Project Impact evaluation data from  Woodside High School

Evaluation from Gerry Robinson, Headteacher at Woodside High School

Clare Edmondson’s work at Woodside has had a significantly positive impact.

In addition to running bespoke training sessions for staff, Clare has worked with some of our most profoundly vulnerable students on a one-to-one basis, helping them to develop their literacy and behaviour.

There has been tangible and measurable impact, including fewer behaviour incidents recorded, an increase in achievement points and students taking on additional positions of responsibility and making significant contributions to school life in a way that would have been unimaginable before.

Through Clare’s skilled guidance and care, students who have extraordinary challenges are developing the tools within themselves to be successful and they are making fantastic progress. Not only are those students more successful in their lessons, but they are also finding the capacity within themselves to take part in additional activities beyond the classroom. This in turn is helping them further develop their confidence, social skills and resilience – essential tools for life.

I recommend Clare’s work wholeheartedly and without reservation.
